Adding dates to URLs is currently way too much work. It’s no surprise that people don’t want to do this kind of editing when it’s passively being discouraged.
I want to highlight this subject because of the talk on digital releases earlier this year. URLs are essential to most of digital releases and improving this part of the release addition process will also improve the quality of digital releases in the database.
This feature request seems to have over six years of discussion behind it: MBS-3774. As time goes on, URL dates will only get more important and the sooner we have practical ways to edit them, the better.
