Images of label logos? Currently possible?

Wondering if it’s currently possible or planned for the future to allow put images of label logos on the label’s pages?

It’s possible to add a link to an image, but as with other entities, only Wikimedia Commons ones will be displayed (like EMI)

There are a few tickets for this:

Some of these are closed as duplicates, looks like https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/MBS-4683 is the one to vote for if like OP you want this feature (I know I do!)

How does this work exactly? EMI in your example has the logo property set pointing to Commons under Relationships, but that is not the case with other labels like Tatra, where the logo is pulled seemingly “automagically”.

Since Tatra has a Wikidata link, a MusicBrainz script can fetch the image URI from the “logo image” property in Wikidata.

If MusicBrainz has a “logo” link for a label, it uses that instead of checking the Wikidata property.

That makes sense, but wouldn’t it be even better to have said script also populate the “logos”-property at the same time?

The script does this on load, IIRC, possibly even client-side? But not 100% sure about that part. In any case, I would expect the idea is not to duplicate stuff when we can easily just take it from Wikidata (then we don’t need to worry about link rot or upgrades)

I voted and added a polemic!
Well, it’s not really a polemic. :duck:
