I'm sorry but I'm a little confused about an edit note I recieved

I had edited some of my projects:

…I had noticed that a new project had a “(from 2024-07-18 to present)” beside it in my “Performance name of” page ( Kit Carruthers - Relationships - MusicBrainz ) and I decided to make it cleaner I’d make it this way for my other projects as well. I noticed under the current way I had them set up, as “person” that it did not have a project start date just a when I was born date, so I changed that category to blank like it is in the other project in order to be allowed to make it the “started” date and not the “born” date.

Then I got this note:

This links an artist’s performance name (a stage name or alias) with their legal name (or a more well know performance name if the legal name is unknown).

I’m sorry I’m just a little confused as to what I did wrong and how to correct it.

https://musicbrainz.org/edit/114263533 and https://musicbrainz.org/edit/114263537 are the edits in question, right?

I think that the edit note is suggesting that instead of clearing the artist types so that you can use the artist start dates to indicate when the performance names started being used, you can instead set the start dates on the “performs as / performance name of” relationships. (Is that right, @chaban?)

To do that, you’d go to https://musicbrainz.org/artist/764addf1-15ee-4b8c-84e9-a0f2b208e54d/edit, click the pencil next to the relationship in the “Relationships” section, and then set the begin date there to 2023-12-23:
