I edited this release today by Baby Smith and it seems the original editor has created a new label with the same name as the artist, probably because it appears as such in Harmony. I believe this is a mistake, because usually this means it’s just a self-published release, in which case [no label] should be used. With that in mind, what should I do? Merge the Baby Smith label into [no label] or change the label to [no label] and then delete Baby Smith?

Yes, label information being imported verbatim is a recurring issue unfortunately. If you merge the entry into [no label] and share the link to the edit, you will receive votes and general gratitude.
