I created this classical music Release Group along with a new Recording (as none existed):
https://musicbrainz.org/release-group/ba55dc2b-be7f-4d9d-9b08-46f4e30db894
The “add new recording“ function did not offer me to change the Recording’s Artist, only the Title. The “copy over artist from track” option would not apply for classical music. So, I finished this new-release edit and thought to fix the Recording’s Artist in a separate edit.
But I only managed to add Teopini as a extra relationship to the recordings as Artist/Solo Performer, the Recording’s Artists still reads “by Johann Sebastian Bach” instead of “by Francesco Teopini”, which is most certainly wrong.
Please advise/help how to change the Recording’s Artist to Teopini. Thanks!
P.S.: On single recordings of the 12+15 tracks, I found the edit dialog to change the Artists. But how to do it as a batch for all 27 related recordings?
Thanks, but I don’t want to install scripts or browser plugins. I add/edit MB entries only every few years and was looking for information how to batch-replace the Recording Artist from the MB website.
Without the script, you’re stuck with one-at-a-time, I’m afraid.
I have the script installed, and can run it for you if you don’t mind.
One minor thing to note on your edits: Musicbrainz’ classical style guidelines call for things like “No.” and “Op.” to be lower-cased.
Thanks, but I just applied this workaround:
- temp edit: batch-changed track artist to performer with “copy over” to recordings.
- revert edit: batch-changed track artist back to composer w/o copying over to recordings.
I already issued this edits and hope they will be applied in order (after 7-day vote expiration).
Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. I did that once or twice before I learned about the script.
The cover reads “No.” instead of “no.”, but happy to comply with style guide.
Much appreciated if you have a way to batch-fix this. Otherwise, I’ll change individually for each track title. Thanks!
I think it’ll have to be done manually, but don’t bother until your other edits go through. Changing the case will be applied immediately, and I don’t know if that will conflict with your other track title edits.
Thanks for the information, will check/fix once edits went through.
