Help with fixing/merging multiple singles into a single release (group)

I’m not sure if this is the right place, but I need help with a specific issue. A user has created releases/release groups for several singles from albums, rather than the complete album itself, across various artist pages.

What is the best way to handle this? Should we group the single releases together so they can be merged as I did it here edit:150762734?

The single releases look like this: “2 Cherry Blossom Ûm” and “3 Blow Cyberpunkers”.

The remaining “singles” of the other artist pages cannot be merged into a complete album due to missing tracks. My question concerns the other songs that were added: Should we edit each single individually so the total track count is correct? Or should we simply delete the releases and add a new, complete version of the album?
How would you solve this problem? The process is going to take some time.

I don’t think the user did it on purpose, but it’s just a real mess.

I also noticed that my method creates a whole series of new mediums. However, if it involves just a single release, it is easier to change that later on. I wish there were a trick to solve this particular case more easily…

I looked at the edit histories on them and the original editor added Spotify tracks as individual singles. So, yeah, these needed to be merged.

I’m collecting the relevant edits here so that I don’t forget later what needs to be merged.

If you want to merge x single track releases into a big x track release, you can’t.

You have to create a new big release with x tracks and, in the Recordings tab of the release editor, link all x new tracks to the x existing recordings (right click copy URL and then paste in the inline recording search is the quickest).

Then you have to remove the old small x single track releases.

You can merge the x release groups into the big release’s release group.

Thank you very much. Yes, that’s exactly what I thought (I usually copy the recording URLs). I also use “MusicBrainz Quick Recording Match”, brought to us by Gemini and Editor “aerozol” - MusicBrainz . :slight_smile:
