HELP. Recording missing time and linked to the wrong accoustid track

“Days Gone By” by Nox Arcana is listed in the track acoustID with another artist, “Days Gone By” by Van Morrison. These are different songs, not a cover song.

Also, the time was left off the same song “Days Gone By” by Nox Arcana. When I tried to fix, I think I created a duplicate recording. I have to wait 3 days, but I’m just not sure if what I am doing is correct.

See here my edits:
adding time to track: Edit #119251646 - MusicBrainz
updating 2 recordings that appear on 2 releases: Edit #119251672 - MusicBrainz

Recording:

I unlinked the recording ID from this track ID for Van Morrison:
https://acoustid.org/track/a5bbf93b-ad79-4548-98a4-175621394ee7

Unlinking the acoustID - that is common. Some people do quick bulk scans in Picard and don’t check results. Leading to lots of bad data with just name matches. Unliking is good.

Now to your track change. I think the error is when you changed the time on the track, you didn’t look at the Recordings page. On there it would have asked you to confirm you were still wanting the same recording.

Instead it has made new recordings.

Cancel the edit(s) and try again. This time after making the change check the Recordings page to make sure same recording is selected.

OK. Thanks. Good thing I asked. I had a feeling I was goofing up. Go with the gut. I’ll cancel and start again.

Well, I tried everything and kept coming round to the fact that I can’t undo or fix the creation of two recording entries. So I opted to merge the recordings. This effects 2 songs. Each song was released as a single, then added later to a compilation. 2 songs, only one recording per song, released as singles and on a compilation.

Once this gets straightened out I plan to upload the fingerprints, I hope

See if this makes sense. I left it open to voting by folks more experienced in this type of surgery.
