The release in question can be found on MusicBrainz and Discogs.
Right now, the title in MusicBrainz is simply “Kanon”. For a classical release, that seems rather unsatisfying.
I would argue that this is pretty much a self-titled release of the orchestra:
- The orchestra is prominently pictured on the front cover
- A large parge of the booklet is dedicated to the history and the members of the orchestra
- A corner ribbon on the front cover states the release to be a portrait of the orchestra
- The spine mentions “Portrait” as well
The words “Pachelbel · Kanon” have probably been emphasized for marketing reasons.
This is also corroborated by the fact that the same recordings have been released under a different name (Festliches Barock). Here, “Kanon Pachelbel” is only one of three highlighted works.
How would you name this release? Or would you leave it as it is?
