Harmony: Music Metadata Aggregator and MusicBrainz Importer

They work in Platform Check after I registered account (my country not supported). Usage seem not to be region controlled (that would be nonsensical since people travel). After importing with Harmony I use PC as it usually adds 1-3 more links, Qobuz among them.

I’ve noticed that Harmony doesn’t compile a list of countries where an Apple Music release is available, or make a “Worldwide” determination. Is the problem that it is just too expensive to get the countryCodes array for every track?

For Apple country determination it has to try each country code, one by one. For Spotify & Deezer, their APIs just tell you which countries the release is in. My suggestion is to use https://atisket.pulsewidth.org.uk/ for Apple country determination.

I’ve noticed when you directly link a Spotify release that’s been delisted, Harmony can’t get the release countries. Is this just a limitation of the Spotify API?

Yeah, it’s not available anymore, so no countries have it. That’s how you know the difference on Spotify between a release that is active or not. At least they still show up, whereas all other sites just remove them entirely. That is how Spotify does their APIs. It has nothing to do with Harmony.

I wish more sites do like what Spotify does. It makes checking and verifying withdrawn releases so much easier.

That makes sense, yeah. I wish there was an easy way to see the release countries of delisted Spotify releases. Would make cleaning up things like AJR’s singles (they’re a nightmare, like 9 different releases per group) a lot easier.

You can now try Falcon to import external links from Harmony.

Painless once I got it running. But I think your usage instructions could use a human touch. For example, the instructions for opening it from Harmony are at the end, below the instructions for debugging and using it with a JSON file (no description of how that file should be structured).

edit: Another minor issue: the edit notes repeat the line “Matched recording while importing https://musicbrainz.org/release/c64a2844-60d1-4d… with Harmony”

Thats fixed already, this is still very new and will be polished a lot. The next step is to add isrc and possibly highest res cover art so u can just click a button and be done with it.

In any case, after experimentation is over I write or change everything AI documented as it usually puts dev details in the docs and makes it overly verbose. That 65 PDF pages on String Theory is destiled version.

To get JSON shape use Export on existing queue.

“once I got it running” = install script and import via Harmony

"once I got it running” = Start following the instructions in the docs, realise that they’re mostly irrelevant, and just look for the button on Harmony.

Your Instance of Harmony has kind of become the default now over the original site, this mainly has to do because Spotify was acting up. While it’s great I have been having issues lately specifically with accessing the Release Action page. It’s not always but most of the time I get the “504 Gateway Time-out” error

Servers were saturated by a bot surge. Counter-measures were deployed. A second surge just happened and it seems the number of 504s significantly decreased (though expect slowdowns).

It seems like it can attach the wrong ISRC to the wrong track in the album.

Yeah, it looks like if it’s a big album and some of the submissions failed halfway through and you restart it, some links and ISRCs will be attached to the wrong recordings. I’ll stop using this unless it’s fixed.

Create an issue and provide some data, otherwise I cant do anything.

Now supports all the stuff from Harmony, i added cover art too, so now it handles links, isrcs, and cover (highest dimension, lowest size, not Discogs for now).

Beatport doesn’t seem to be working. For example this: `Beatport: Failed to extract embedded JSON: https://www.beatport.com/search?q=7640130837997`. If you click on the search, there is in fact results.

Also, on Tidal album art, if you replace 1280x1280 to origin in the filename of the image, you’ll get the full-size, or original sized image.

Yeah, Beatport no longer works on Harmony. Hasn’t for a while. They must have changed their API.

@RyanThaDude @tigerman325, while this is unresolved, you can supplement Harmony with Platform Check which supports Beatport, along with some other providers Harmony doesn’t. With link added to release, ISRC Scout can be used to add links and ISRC to recordings.

Region unavailability should specify what platform was used to determine it. For example, Re:born – Harmony claims it is unavailable in Japan, but that’s not true.
