Many users hesitate to participate in other languages than English, while MusicBrainz is a multilingual community and Discourse is installed with many languages already. The welcome message should be translated as well. This is what this thread is for. I hope that @Freso will be able to integrate them into Welcome to MetaBrainz Community Discourse in a way or another (possibly starting with a TOC based on “Welcome” translations for every language?).

Below is a French translation, any feedback is welcome:

Bienvenue sur le forum de la communauté MetaBrainz ! Prenez un verre, décontractez-vous et soyez à l’aise ici comme chez vous.

Ce site est pour les membres de la communauté *Brainz au sens large : MusicBrainz, BookBrainz, ListenBrainz, AcousticBrainz et tous les autres projets *Brainz et sujets liés sous l’égide de la fondation MetaBrainz. Certains projets ont des catégories dédiées, d’autres pas. Si vous souhaitez discuter de ListenBrainz, de CritiqueBrainz ou d’un autre projet sans catégorie attitrée, créez un sujet dans la catégorie Metabrainz, tout simplement.

Si vous appréciez votre visite et vos échanges ici, n’hésitez pas à le signaler à @Freso ou à lui écrire si vous avez des questions ou si avez besoin d’aide ou de conseils. :slight_smile:

Indeed, that would be amazing, and I definitely would if I could… but as far as I can tell, Discourse does not currently have a way to have a post be presentable in several different languages. I guess I could paste all the translations into the post, but that would end up being a long unwieldy post where people might scroll to try and find their language… Or might just not, not thinking their language is there. I’ll think about it some more, but really, I wish Discourse had a way for this to Just Work™.

This might work, appears Discourse let’s the anchors and href’s through.

I tried to create a german translation:

Herzlich willkommen im Forum der MetaBrainz-Community! Nimm dir eine Tasse Tee, leg deine Füße hoch und fühl dich wie zu Hause.

Diese Seite ist für Mitglieder der *Brainz-Community im weiten Sinn: MusicBrainz, BookBrainz, ListenBrainz, AcousticBrainz und aller weiteren *Brainz-Projekte und damit zusammenhängenden Themen unter dem Dach der MetaBrainz-Stiftung. Einige der Projekte haben eigene Kategorien, andere wiederum nicht. Wenn du etwas über ListenBrainz, CritiqueBrainz oder ein anderes Projekt ohne eigene Kategorie schreiben möchtest, dann kannst du dies in der MetaBrainz-Kategorie tun. :slight_smile:

Ich hoffe, du genießt deinen Aufenthalt hier; und scheue dich nicht, mich mittels @Freso anzusprechen oder mir zu schreiben, wenn du irgendwelche Fragen hast oder Hilfe benötigst.

@Zas Yes. That is, I have no clue. :slight_smile: Seems like the French are using a “lang:fr” tag for French posts—I wouldn’t object to this being used for other language as well.
