Standard EAC to FLAC track rips and just use a decent audio player. KODI, Yatse (on phone), Winamp all work fine. For some bizarre reasons VLC still don’t handle gapless so is ignored. Have always done this and never had a problem with playback.

This is why I was surprised about how Young Lust is on the “wrong” track when I first tried to play it on its own. Had a reason to listen to the lyrics and tried to pick it out one day with Winamp and this is what started the voyage of discovery of the way tracks 8/9/10 are cut up on different CDs from different years.

one single flac with an embedded cue file/playlist?

I used to prefer this variant, but they can’t be tagged by Picard and I later split them into individual files. This works well with all players (except VLC)

I was surprised about how Young Lust is on the “wrong” track when I first tried to play it on its own.

I first read about it, so it came as no surprise when I got one of these releases recently.¹ It is astonishing that apparently no one noticed this mistake for years, but probably nobody really picked a single track from this album to listen to.
