I would like to have an additional event art type “article” (the graphical pendant of the external link type “reviews”). Especially for old events you can sometimes find newspaper scans on fan sites.
For example for the following event

I would like to add newspaper article scans like

Is that feasible ? What do you think …

I like the idea too but I worry about where this gets us copyright wise :frowning:

One could argue that its no different to us posting high resolution scans of booklets with lengthy liner notes which can sometimes be similar to reviews in their writing style (i mean heck they’re all going into the same archive system).

But then another could argue that those works aren’t enough to be considered “factual” and should only be reposted with the original authors consent.

I personally lean towards the former btw, just trying to give both sides of the coin.

(welp I cant use the internet today as that previous post was meant to be a response directly to @vzell but failed  )

Another note (unrelated).

At the moment only the type of “Poster” is getting shown as a thumbnail… that’s ok but there will be a lot of events that we might only have the flyer for… would we be considering having the Flyer show as a thumbnail if a Poster image doesn’t exist?

there’s already a ticket for that, actually~ adding Banners and Flyers to the possible thumbnails

edit: looks like it happened to me too, @sound.and.vision… lol

I was about to upload photos of a show, downloaded from the artist OHP, when I noticed there were no matching types.

So we shouldn’t upload these, right?

I don’t personally see any reason not to, at least if the photos are on the artists website. tho I also don’t know if there’s any legal issues with that…

I probably would not upload photos, no. It feels that while posters, tickets and the like are material made for the event that makes sense to have, photos are not event material as such and that combined with the copyright protections makes me feel uneasy with the idea of archiving those. I’m not saying that it’s not something worth archiving in its own way, just not sure if the EAA is the place for that.

did we ever figure out what our approach might be towards adding these posters which cover multiple dates/venues (i.e. a tour poster)

If nothing else, perhaps upload it to each date?

I did think that but I thought I’d see if anyone else has good ideas

Why don’t you upload it to a tour (parent event of concert events)?

Edit: Oh, I forgot tours were series entities, we cannot upload images to them.

I also upload them to every event in the tour. Along with each event’s poster, if it exists.
