The track durations for Tracks 3 and 4 of Disk 2 of this release are incorrect:
This is confirmed by the durations given on page 10 of the Booklet:
If I check the Disc ID, it is assigned to multiple different releases. What is the best procedure to follow here. Should I delete the Disc ID from this release and then edit the times, or is there another recomended way of approaching it?
If you own this release (confirmed by very thorough comparison of cover art, barcode, catalog nr, etc.), then the proper way is to attach your own discids and set the track times from those.
However, I see that the track times were set by@rafwuk and the cover art was uploaded by @InvisibleMan78 so you may want to double-check with them that you really own the same release as they do; the entry is now defined by what they have in their collection. If not, you will have to make a new entry for your own copy.
I have just dug out my discs, and can confirm that the disc ID uploaded matches my disc. @mat8iou , please can you do the same as I did: put your disc in the drive, hit âLookup CDâ in Picard, then âHelpâ â âView Error/Debug Logâ? When I did this, I got the following output:
D: 11:04:36,908 disc._set_disc_details:91: Read disc ID FK9G.k3hu4vXsvSxGdFUTUegmq4- with MCN 0028944707922
This will show your disc ID, which may help to track down what release you have (I donât think there were too many pressings of Complete Beethoven Edition).
I ripped the CDs at my parents house in the UK (Iâm in Aus) when I was there last monthâŚ
Wonât be back there for at least a year⌠Only started going through the files and matching them properly just now.
That said, listening to the two tracks, there is no discernible break at between tracks 3 and 4 - and the proper break sounds about 30 seconds later - so it could possibly be that the break is in the wrong place.for some reason - it could have been an error at my end when ripping, as I was going through a lot of CDs in succession as I was there for quite a limited time.
If the track lengths are different to the current DiscID then it sounds like someone changed the edit on the CD pressing at some point. It happens. Maybe someone made an initial error when transferring from original tape to CD and corrected it on a later release.
This is not an error you can make when ripping.
What did you rip with? If something like EAC then you have a log file that includes the file table that can be converted to a discID. If not, leave it a year and look at the discIDs next time you are near them.
For now, you could clone the release and update track times based on your actual ripped files. Leave some notes in the annotation as to the differences.
