In my edit 138452275 MB has replaced the track and changed the MBID rather than simply editing the title as I intended. Is this OK, or have I done something wrong? Does the change in track ID have any ramifications?
Click on the old Track1 and Track2. You will see that this release used to be connected to the Recording that was common to many other releases. Your edit has broken this association. It is not the change of TrackID that is a problem, but the Recording that track is linked to is now reset.
It is because after making your edits, you didn’t noticed the “Reuse previous recordings” button that was on the Recordings tab.
If you go and redo this edit, watch out for that button on the next page and you’ll keep those Recordings associated.
Thank you. That worked for almost all the edits of this box set except for CD#7.
In that case the “reuse recordings” button actually introduced an error and swapped tracks 1 and 3 (on CD#7). I have corrected this, and although MB thinks the recording has changed, I think this changes only the track titles as intended.
It is worth looking closer at the other releases. Is the Recording track 7.1 or 7.4? Have some other releases swapped this around? Maybe they have a slightly different running order and the previous editor of this release had used that different running order.
Though looking at your edit is a little odd as track 1 and 3 are still the same Recording MBIDs even though they show up as something different in the edit. They stay pointing at the exact same track before and after. Very strange.
You may make your life easier if you attach some DiscIDs. That way the track lengths will get nailed down more accurately. Notice how on CD7 you somehow change the track time from 11:59 to 11:35 in your edit.
Editing 10 CD boxsets are always a challenge ![]()
