Different fonts in track titles

How do you handle different fonts in track titles?

Take for example track 1 of this release:

OVERTURE to The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte), K. 620 (7:03)

Would you “convert” the italic font into quotation marks?

Overture to “The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte)”, K. 620

Pros: Probably closest to the designer’s intent. Cons: Need to “invent” quotation marks.

Would you just “drop” the italic font?

Overture to The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte), K. 620

Pros: Minimal interference. Cons: Reads horribly

Another alternative would be to “normalize” the title:

The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte), K. 620: Overture

Pros: Reads nicely. Cons: Probably farthest from the designer’s intent.

What would you do?

In normal MB guidelines it would be Option 2, but I do realise Classical has different rules.

I think Option 3 looks a mess.

The Classical Style Guide provider an example:

Nocturne from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

… which looks like your alternative #2.

Isn’t that option 1 ? The one with the quotes?

I hadn’t seen that guideline, but then Classical has it’s own set of rules which I never understand and stay well away from.

Yes, you are right, I mean the one with the quotes.

There is no explicit requirement “use the quotes” in the Classical Style Guide, but an example kind of hints in the right direction
