Deleted Editor, Mess Left Behind

I noticed some incorrect entries appear as ‘new albums’ for artists in my collection, I could see these were wrong so was going to correct.

But before I did, the editor concerned had appeared to notice his mistake and had pending edits to remove them again so left them alone. The editor was using an automated script that was scanning deezer who keep lumping different artists together. A few days later I checked again and could see the editor was now deleted and all the edits cancelled.

Given the quantity I can see why the editor was removed or left, but if the process triggers the cancelling of all pending edits surely it would be better to leave these for review ?

Thanks agatzk for the assistance, I’ve changed the one’s I can find the correct info about from unknown / catch all to the correct entries.

What a disaster. It’s unfortunate an editor joins MB, blindly auto-imports 5,133 releases in just a few weeks, then deletes his account. Many of these releases were added to incorrect MB artists.

I’ve begun correcting some of his worst offenses. If anyone wants to join the clean-up effort, here is my current list of “unknown” artists with releases which need proper assignment.

For admin purposes (if ever needed), this is the editor profile in question.

Can a rate limiter be put in place? I don’t see the difference between a bot that needs permission, or a person charging through scripts without any validation. This is an awful mess, but can’t see how I can help as I don’t know any of the artists involved.

Scripts like this should be limited to a user who already has a few thousand edits.

Heroic medals need awarding to those doing clearups. :military_medal:

I’ve done all the total one’s that I could find, a few left that you moved to unknown that I haven’t tracked down as yet, I’d also gone through the Lakeside one’s as well fixing what I knew.

Sadly off on holiday tomorrow, but if it’s still a mess when I get back will pitch in with some more.

Sorted “The Swingers” now, all matched to correct artists
