Yes. I am one of those people who was adding bad data. In recent weeks I’ve slowed down a lot but have decided to just stop completely because I’m simply not good at it.
But I thought letting you know what was going through my head might have some value. When I added these userscripts (and others), I thought I was doing the right/proper thing. I thought, well, if this is Spotify/Apple Music data, it’s going to be correct. It never occured to me that a multi-billion dollar corpo might be working with bad data. Of course, this seems silly in hindsight, but that was my thinking at the time. So no, I didn’t double check the data until @VBZPPlNQyJ started to vote down my edits (which was 100% the right thing to do, and I’m grateful that you did it).
There should be a page or popup that lets users know that the imported data is not necessarily correct. That would have helped.
I think Credit Hoarder & Falcon got me into the most trouble but tbh, this section about Relationships, is what made me use Credit Hoarder so much. I’ve since uninstalled it because I’m just going to mess it up and I’d rather not add any data than add bad or incorrect data.
I think @chaban is on the right track with adding edit rate limits. But I also think that new users should be forced to manually edit things without scripts, learn the rules, learn the style guides for a certain number of releases, not time.
Userscript usage should be earned and not granted to everyone. I know this because I should never have been allowed to use them lol.
