Classical edge case: covers of pop songs

This release was imported from Spotify, where Lehrer is credited as one of the album artists. Only The Queen’s Six is credited on iTunes.

I suppose he could be considered an album artist in classical style, as the composer, but it bugs me every time I see it in his discography. Why would that album be there but not this one?

Opinions?

I agree with you. Just because an orchestra performs a track does not instantly make it Classical.

But then I am in that minority who thinks something like this should have the writer in the work relationship and not in the artist field.

Hang on - this isn’t even an orchestra is it? Just some singers singing as a group without instruments?

I notice they have their own credit on their own Bandcamp site: Stream The Queen's Six music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud

Ok, I put in edits:

This fits the term “classical crossover.” The Hampton String Quartet did a series of “What if Mozart Wrote…” albums that also fit this form. Your edits are in line with those examples.
