A band is attributed as the artist making a recording. Does it make sense to add individuals as performers?
At the moment, John Doe shows no recordings, even though he has made many as a member of The Band. If I make John Doe a performer who plays piano, is this sensible?
Sure, Band members can also be set as having performed instruments or vocals on a release or recording . Performance roles can vary even for permanent members so this makes sense.
Please note though, that because performance roles can vary even for permanent members, you shouldn’t try to guess which recordings feature which band members. If only the entire band is credited or instrument roles are credited for the entire release, you should only credit the entire band or add them to the release instead of the recordings.
