i am currently working on fixing this album:
most of the tracks are sets (“medleys”) of multiple traditional tunes, which should have been entered as separate works and linked to the recordings. but they weren’t. instead, someone has entered one work for all three to five works on each track, called “Work 1 - Work 2 - Work 3”.
(note that despite the “baroque”, “classical” tags, this is not a classical album; although i strongly suspect the musicians involved are classical musicians, it consists almost entirely of traditional Scottish works. therefore, classical style guidelines don’t apply here.)
anyway, what i’d like to do is delete the existing works and replace them with proper works related to the recordings. but since we don’t like deleting things, i probably shouldn’t do that. instead, what i’ve done is add the missing individual works, then change the bad works into a “medley” of the actual works, like this: Work “Robbin Powers Fancy - Miss Douglas Brigton's Jigg - Cosey's Jigg” - MusicBrainz.
this is going to take a while to get through all of them, so in the mean time, i thought i’d see if anyone thinks there’s a better approach here. i don’t think the medley work is technically wrong, but it’s kind of a fudge since we don’t usually relate trad sets this way.
