Hi all. Working slowly to import lots of music from Japan into MB from my library. A lot of the albums are currently tagged with the original Japanese as well as the translation inlined in the field, like this:
If I were to make an English pseudo-release for this album (as an example, there might be one already), is it acceptable stylistically to format the titles like that? e.g.
森の詩 (Poetry Of The Forest)
If not, might I lobby for allowing it? I don’t like losing language fidelity when I’m listening, especially in languages I’m vaguely trying to learn

The English titles are not part of the release, so yes, for sure, it would be an English pseudo-release – without the Japanese titles at all, the original/official release is already here for this.
In which you should include only the translated titles and artist credits, in English Capitalisation Style:

Besides this, if you want Banka to appear somewhere, you can also create another pseudo-release, a transcription, this time:
But it’s more difficult because you have to find proper readings.
For example, usually 森の詩 would be Mori no Shi, but here, according to JASRAC (who makes mistakes at times) work number 087-5823-9, it seems the official reading is Mori no Uta.

My reading is that the pseudo-release guidelines are very lax, and you are free to enter the transliteration however you like, including as “kanji (latin)”?
The language and script fields would be set to [multiple…]
A English-only pseudo-release could live alongside this without any trouble, if someone prefers that.

I haven’t seen it done before, but I also wouldn’t vote against it, as long as an English-only pseudo-release is also created
I actually wonder how difficult it’d be to create a Picard script that’ll do just this tho…
