Bachianas Brasileiras

I see that the orchestral transcription of Bachianas Brasileiras No 9 ( Work “Bachianas Brasileiras nº 9, W449” - MusicBrainz ) is not set as part of the whole work ( Work “Bachianas Brasileiras” - MusicBrainz ). Although the original version was indeed the choral one, in the light of most later performances it seems perverse that the orchestral one is not considered part of the whole. Am I out on a limb over this, and would there be an objection to my editing the relationship and including it?

And rather than start too many threads incomprehensible to non-classical music people, might I also enquire whether there is any way of verifying the credit of a “Violonchello piccolo” in edit Edit #45132299 - MusicBrainz

As this is a baroque instrument it seems most unlikely that it would be used in a 20th century work. And there is certainly no mention of it in my box set LP release of all 9 Bachianas Brasileiras. It looks like a mistake to me.

Actually, I think this is better off as a separate thread. But you are right, this is related to Bachianas Brasileiras, or at least a recording of a performance of that work.

What I do in this case is first make an edit note in the edit. Even though the edit happened 9 years ago, the original editor is surprisingly often still active and response. If you get no response in two or so weeks, then I suggest you make the change to the instrument, leaving a really good edit note. Mention that you have a physical copy of a Release with this work, and mention what that Release’s packaging says about the instrumentation for that track.

That’s curious. I see that Work/2146 “Bachianas Brasileiras nº 9, W449” - MusicBrainz does indeed have an Is Part Of relation to the whole work ( Work/b302 “Bachianas Brasileiras” - MusicBrainz ). The edit Edit #16231097 - MusicBrainz making this relationship was in 2012. Then in 2017, edit Edit #46006879 - MusicBrainz put the parts in the correct order.

Are you seeing something different?

Ah, no. My mistake. I got hold of the wrong end of the stick from a different view. Sometimes the direction of MB relationships is not immediately clear.
