I am curios if you would make the artist = “Blue Medusa & Alissa White-Gluz” like Harmony proposed it.
I decided against that and just go with “Blue Medusa” because Alissa is the lead singer of that group.
Everything is pretty fresh right now but I think we don’t have artist intend here. Just the new way streaming platforms mention artists. They add anyone who is related and has an account.
If I can see that an artist has been added purely to game the Spotify search system/notifications/feeds, there’s no sign of reasonable artist intent to credit them as an actual artist in any other sense, I also don’t add them.
Sadly this is a bit of a judgement call, but in this case I would have done exactly the same!
Does Spotify merge separate credits together by any chance? Freegal seems to concatenate track artists with work writers, which can lead to funny credits like “Patty Gurdy & PATRICIA BUECHLER” when those are two names for the same person. I’ve just been using other sites for track artist credits because I’m pretty sure Freegal’s thing is just its own weirdness.
