Artist changed their mind on release group type

In the past the artist refereed to their release as an EP, but now it seems they changed their mind and they call it an album. Should the release group reflect this or stay as an EP?

in this Release group “WAVESウェーブス” by ミカヅキBIGWAVE - MusicBrainz the bandcamp releases link to this url: https://mikazukibigwave.bandcamp.com/album/waves-ep, however that now redirects to https://mikazukibigwave.bandcamp.com/album/waves-album. and all references to the release in the description there mention it as an album too.

on their official store it is also mentioned as an album WAVESウェーブス – Mikazuki Bigwave

as well as on spotify WAVESウェーブス - Album by Mikazuki BIGWAVE | Spotify

Honestly, I don’t think it really matters. EP and album is a kind of weird/arbitrary distinction.

Personally I wouldn’t push back if the artist wanted to change it to album, since the original release is 40 minutes +, which is longer than the average EP, and it’s been released on a 12" record (not a 7"/EP).

Similar situation where artist intended to redefine singles as EPs initially thinking there was some kind of standard for EPs
