Any plans to add POST or edit capability for the MusicBrainz API?

I’m seeing that there are a few topics asking about edit capability through the API but none of them recent, as well as this MBS-211 ticket which hasn’t been commented on in about 7 years.

Has an effort to add or edit metadata through the API gone dormant?

Reason I ask is because I’m working on a project where I’m scraping metadata from Bandcamp links and would love a way to batch upload those to MB.

Not totally in my wheelhouse to contribute to the open source project on my own, especially if there’s some sort of authentication framework involved that doesn’t currently exist. But figured I’d ask.

I don’t have an answer for your main question, but if the answer is no, perhaps Harmony could be part of your solution? it can import Bandcamp releases into MusicBrainz with partial duplicate checks (tho not quite perfect at the moment, as it relies on UPCs on the Bandcamp release)

While i’d love to have it, the general sentiment is against bots. It’s quite easy to have a bot go rogue and add hundreds of bad data that needs cleanup (and actually happened before).

There’s still edit seeding, where you can craft an url that put all your edits in the fields, leaving you to manually review it, and validate that the data is correct.

Cool I’m going to look into edit seeding for sure, that’s basically the exact type of thing I had in mind anyway since I plan on having a review step in between organizing all the metadata and submitting it.
