Adding multiple releases by the same artist that contain the same recordings

Today I added several releases by the same artist. Several recordings were present on two or more of these releases (e.g. an original release and a compilation). Unfortunately, when adding the second release I saw no way to link tracks to the recordings which I have added a few minutes earlier with the previous release.

I assume this happens because the previous release has not been “approved” yet. This means, however, that I have to add a new compilation release a few days later, or there will be multiple versions of the same recordings. Is there a better way to handle this?

If you added the first release from scratch, you should be able to copy the MB id of the new recording and paste it to link it to another track on a compilation. A very non-obvious feature of the musicbrainz editor, but super helpful once you know it’s there.
