A New Pseudonym for Alfred Scholz

Dear community,

During the course of my recent attempt to curate my music collection I have come across numerous recordings which contain performances marketed and sold fraudulently by the Czech producer and conductor Alfred Scholz. Many of his associated pesudonyms (aliases and orchestras) have been identified and linked with his name already, but I believe I have a new one. Namely, an album of recordings of Tchaikovsky compositions in my music library called “Tchaikovsky Ballet Suites” by “Peter Stern” (a known Scholz alias) conducting the “Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra” and distributed in Belgium from 1988 match acoustically (via Picard), in order and in track length to an album called “The Nutcracker Suite” (Musicbrainz link here) by “Franz Novacek” conducting the “Baltic States Symphony Orchestra” and distributed in the USA in 1993.

I am a newcomer to Musicbrainz and while it has proven to be a valuable resource to me to identify and catalog digital music I have acquired over the years, I have not actually done any editing myself on the site thus far, though I would like to give back. However, given that there are a lot of things going on with this annotation and I am a newbie, I would appreciate some guidance from more knowledgeable editors about how best to accurately add this information to MusicBrainz.

Please be nice.

Always nice to meet a Scholz connoisseur!

There is no official guideline, but this page is the closest we have to a standard.

Personally, I would be in favour of merging all the Scholz personal artists into Alfred Scholz and use aliases, and create one “Alfred Scholz Bogus Orchestra” to combine all the fake orchestras and use aliases, but I’m the minority.

I’ll have a look at that page and then use my best judgement to add the pseudonyms. Thanks a lot!
