Not sure whether it’s temporary or when it occurred, but 45worlds.com pages appear to be redirecting to a new 45cat.com extended URL, so for example the home page now shows as https://www.45cat.com/45worlds-home and a given album now looks like https://www.45cat.com/vinyl/album/sp8404 instead of www.45worlds.com/vinyl/album/sp8404 (the latter redirects to the former). This is causing new additions of the external link to fail at the release-group level, presumably because it expects a different link structure. Anyone else aware of whether this is a known MB issue yet?
EDIT: here’s what happens when you try to paste that link into Log in - MusicBrainz
Yes, but since the links aren’t really labeled in significantly different ways, we would need to hardcode on our side what subpaths should be marked 45worlds vs 45cat. My view was that if they cannot be bothered to have a website structure that makes sense, we shouldn’t put more effort on making the label match exactly than they did on making sense
It was a pretty idle question honestly. My guess is more changes in branding may be afoot so perhaps we should just give it some time. I don’t know how complicated that display name/icon swap on the back end is but as I say I agree that parsing extended url for its sake is dumb.
Another development, that I think just started? Legacy 45worlds links (that redirect correctly, for now at least) no longer show on MB with that icon and as a result no longer appear in the sidebar under (group) external links:
This is from this group, I’ve added the second link in edit #135793479 so you can see what that looks like (though I guess replacing the link is the better approach), but this means that many existing links have become harder to see (i.e. only when on the group page)…
