Wikidata has strong barriers against non-celebrity Works.
Many MB Artists do not qualify for entry into Wikidata.
If we go the way of using Wikidata then for the forseeable future only celebrity Visual Art will be available for being used in “Inspired by” Relationships.
To be fair, as I mentioned earlier, “is in a museum” seems to be enough for them for paintings at least (I’d know, since I’ve machine-added thousands of paintings in Estonian museums that pretty much nobody has heard of otherwise). Chances are there aren’t a lot of paintings that inspired other works, yet they are pretty much unknown. That said, I’m sure there’s some! 
Wikidata is adding support for collections in things like art galleries.
For example a few weeks ago they added support to link to works found in the art gallery of south Australia with https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Property_proposal/Art_Gallery_of_South_Australia_work_ID
They are slowly adding support to link to all sorts of galleries so if your local gallery has a website that uses a consistent identifier they could add support for it.
