I am trying to match a crapload of MP3s and I am getting back a TONNE of incorrect songs all attributed to some band called “Metro Station”. As far as I can tell they’re some kind of cover band. All their stuff should be yoinked from AcoustID’s database to prevent all of these false positives.
Do you have any tags on the songs already?
If so, it’s always worth doing a first pass with ‘lookup’, only afterwards use scan. It will reduce your false matches.

It is an insane mess. You are correct. I assume someone has taken a compilation album, stacked all the recordings onto a single track of “Metro Station” and then hit “Submit AcoustID” in Picard. It is the only way I can work out someone has managed to cause such chaos.
Annoyingly the only way to clean it up is manually… And there are at least six or seven Metro Station tracks this has been done to.

Or at least hide the button by default. I took off THOUSANDS of duff AcoustIds from that one artist until I gave up and my RSI screamed.

Already stripped a metric tonne of bad AcoustIDs there… but had to give up. Just too many to deal with.
A noobie user who finds Picard will not read a manual. Users push buttons that they see until something happens or they rage quit.

It’s taking a while to go through the 300+ left on the ‘Kelsey’ recording, but it’s getting there…

Don’t unlink all of them. There are at least a dozen that are correct.

Sorry! I definitely decided that napalm (to use your term) was the best option, with that amount of incorrect IDs. Let me know if I can help relink any.

You’d needed to teach your AI pal to look for a match on the " Additional user-submitted metadata" section.
I’d recommend not making your script public. Most of the other recordings I had fixed. Please don’t delete that work at least. The Kelsey work is already lost
I checked each one visually. Clearing up a lot of other errors along the way. And I don’t even know who the band is

AI just wrote a script that automated the clicks/new tabs I was doing by hand.
Does unlinking a recording delete the “Additional user-submitted metadata” data?? I didn’t know that? (edit: maybe not?)
Better to remove than have hundreds of recordings get incorrectly matched. If you were going to come back to this, my apologies, it didn’t sound like it.
P.S. I will try find the time to go through today and relink the correct ones
P.P.S. Done - imo the only fingerprint worth keeping (more than one, sometimes two, sources) is this one, I’ll let you remove the rest if you agree @IvanDobsky
