When playing recommendations/suggestions, jumping ahead doesn't work

While trying to work around bug https://community.metabrainz.org/t/playlist-randomly-stops/ I am trying to start the playlist and then just continue playing from the last song before the playback got stuck (by using the little play icon next to it). Unfortunately when I do that the next song played, is again the one on top of the list. I.e. the playback doesn’t register the placement of the list when using the play button.

The only workaround to this is to press the skip button multiple times, but that is not helped by LB playing the first half-second of each song as it’s skipping it, even after I press the skip button 10 times in quick succession

Paging @mr_monkey and @anshgoyal31

I get this too. I bet it’s also related to when you select a random song within the playlist to start playback from, it then picks something else presumably fed by YouTube, rather then the next track in the playlist (so I also skip down from the start every time now to avoid this behavior). Afraid I have no useful suggestions but I’ll be watching this thread!

We do know about the issue, and in the past year we have been reworking a lot of the internals of the music player, partly in preparation to fix issues like this.
It is definitely on our list (and I find it very frustrating as well!), we just need to find the time to fix it properly.
Stay tuned!

As a matter of fact, you inspired me, and I was also tired of that issue while playing my Year in Music recommendations playlist, so I took a stab at it: LB-1770: Brainzplayer queue improvements by MonkeyDo · Pull Request #3485 · metabrainz/listenbrainz-server · GitHub

It still needs to be reviewed and tested thoroughly, but it should land soon.

Nice, I see the PR merged. Is this live now?

It is now!
