Ways of adding Genre tag

I used to rely on plugins to add Genre tag to my files, namely either lastfm/lastfmplus and wikidata.

I honestly lost track on the status of the last.fm plugins, but wikidata is supposed to work. What does not work?

Additionally, is it possible to add Genre according to the artist genre on musicbrainz? I know there is an option for it (I think) in Picard, but it doesn’t seem to be working for me.

Yes, there is an options for this (Options > Metadata > Folksonomy Tags > “Fall back on album’s artists tags…”, but it currently does not work due to some server side inconsistency:

Folksonomy tags no longer work as of v2.0.0

I use the Folksonomy tags metadata feature to add genres by choosing the options “Only use my tags”, “Fall back on album’s artist tags…”, and setting the maximum number of tags to 1. Since upgrading to Picard 2.0.0 this no longer works, so newly tagged files have no genre. Has anyone else see this?
