Was any strings lost during the transfer from Transifex?

A few years back, I did a decent amount of translations for the Malay language there. And now when I checked it on Weblate, there’s 0 strings translated and I have to start from scratch.

I don’t know what happened on the MB server side, but yes, the Malayan translations there are missing for all components. For the missing server translations we can’t use the files from Transifex directly. But it should be possible to import them into the translation memory and restore the translations for unchanges strings from there. I’ll look into it and let you know how it went.

For Picard we took all translations from Transifex, and the Malayan translations are still there. But especially with Picard 3 we had a lot of changes, so translation of the app itself has dropped to 40%. But things are pretty stable and we don’t expect much changes before the final Picard 3 release anymore.

This worked rather well. I imported the Malay translations from Transifex and imported it into the Weblate translation memory. I then did automated translation from TM for all Malay components. 100% matches are directly translated, any 80% or higher match was also applied but marked for requiring edits (this allows easy correction for minor source string changes).

Please have a look at MetaBrainz Weblate , especially strings marked as “needing edit” and failing checks. And if you think something from Transifex is still missing, let me know.

Just a note on Transifex: It confused me at first, as Transifex shows all translations as “100%”, while in reality some of the downloaded files had only very few translations (e.g. instrument descriptions has only one string translated). But I remember this is one of the oddities of Transifex: When closing the translations for editing they are suddenly all shown as 100%.

Thanks a lot. Is there by any chance that the glossary was saved as well? I translated a lot of the glossary to help with the consistency of the translated terms but it seems like only a few of them survived.
