So I want to make Picard use only specific tags and fetch metadata for only these specific tags and remove all the other tags from files. Is this possible?
I once wrote a plugin called Keep Only Tags intended to do that. You might want to give it a try and see if it does what you want.

Maybe I should clean up the code a bit and actually submit that to the list of Picard “official” plugins. I’m guessing there are probably others that might be looking for the same functionality.
