Of course.
But note that people have illegal versions of:
Word to write CV.
Photoshop to eliminate “red eye”
Maybe when they use these programs, they think they have power?

Without reciprocity.
Some people have old habits and that is their choice.
Write a CV in OpenOffice \ LibreOffice or even WordPad.
Do red eye in Paint.net or IrfanView.
In each of these cases the software is way less bloat that Adobe and MS mess. And none of that online cloud mess they now insist on.
Old habits of not paying for someone else’s work.
None of the software being mentioned here needs to be paid for. You are the one with the wallet who is wanting to pay for inferior products.
And I am certainly not saying swap to Linux. All the products we discuss here are free on Windows.
I wonder how many people paid for WinRAR?
It is a choice. I have a paid for copy of DOS PKZIP on a shelf somewhere. And the Winamp PRO licence from the 1990s.
If I like free software, I’ll donate for time that it has saved me.
Was never really a fan of WinRAR. Been a 7-Zip user for far longer than I want to remember.
Do you remember ARJ on floppy disks?
I did the same for WizTree.
ARJ
I think PKZIP could do ARJ? Can’t remember. And my paid for copy is on a floppy disk.
Used use it to span a compressed file over multiple floppies.
Micro$hafts version is probably 2GB in size now.

Did you know that there are pendrives that replace floppy disks and have a capacity of 1TB?
I don’t think so. IIRC, I had to have both on my computer.
I wonder how many people paid for {…}
As for softwares, the most memorable ones I paid for are Impulse Tracker 2* and EmEditor.
And many console games.
replace floppy disks
When network transfer rates meant I could download files from the other side of the world quicker than I can get them off of a floppy… that’s when I put my floppies aside and stored my copy of PKZIP in New Zealand.
Ah, Total Commander, I paid for it too!
TC includes only the unpackers, you still need the external executables to pack. Except for ZIP, where TC has the whole engine included.
I have prepared Picard.exe for you on 23 3.5" disks.
Now you can record them, ride the bicycle and take Picard to your colleague on the other side of town.

Thank you. But I need photographic evidence of the stack. And please make sure you number them for me. I’ll then be round to collect them later. I’ll send a flock of carrier pigeons.
In computer networking, IP over Avian Carriers (IPoAC) is a joke proposal to carry Internet Protocol (IP) traffic by birds such as homing pigeons. IP over Avian Carriers was initially described in .mw-parser-output cite.citation{font-style:inherit;word-wrap:break-word}.mw-parser-output .citation q{quotes:"\"""\"""'""'"}.mw-parser-output .citation:target{background-color:rgba(0,127,255,0.133)}.mw-parser-output .id-lock-free a,.mw-parser-output .citation .cs1-lock-free a{background:url("//upload...
Yes, the options are here, but they won’t work unless you tell TC where to find arj32.exe / lha32.exe / rar.exe / uc.exe / winace.exe. On my system, asking TC to pack with another method than zip fails with an error, which makes sense because I haven’t installed those packers for a long time on my systems.
