Why do studios allow piracy on Youtube or https://www.cda.pl/?

I’m asking seriously.

YouTube lets copyright holders get a portion of the revenue from the ads shown alongside their content even if they didn’t upload it – see e.g. “How Content ID works”. I’m unfamiliar with the other site.

@derat

So Spotify does the same.

A technical question about Spotify:

did they rip all the CDs? :wink:

Windows Media Player Legacy on Win11 it still works, fetches tags and covers.

Even to cleaned mp3’s.

Essentials are not albums, they are playlists. Just tracks put together by Apple which can change.

They pop up in the middle of this meandering thread: Can a playlist be considered a release?

Ivan, that’s possible. I wrote this in relation to my previous post where there is a screenshot of Windows Media Player.

I have this Kraftwerk on mp3 and downloaded the tags and covers with WMP.

Do you know the site with old versions of the application?

http://www.oldversion.com/

E.g. Winamp 0.20 from 1997.

It works, but only halfway. There’s no sound. Gotta have some fun. :wink:

Be careful what you trust MS Media Player with - you’ll likely be getting some old version of MP3 tagging standard, and those annoying hidden image files. If you like the search results it gives you, maybe pass it through MP3TAG to update the tags to a newer level.

And yes - I am an old Winamp user from the 1990s. :llama:

I like Winamp because of the visualizations.

Winamp visualisations are why you need to own a projector… :boom: :sparkler: :llama:

It does not :slight_smile:

@aerozol, so explain where they got their compressed files and why they are almost free?

Artists/labels have to upload them themselves. Spotify does not have a system like YouTube, where you can monetize other peoples uploads.

Sometimes it’s hard to come up with 20 characters. :wink:

Thanx.

What projector ??

All you need is a CRT, LED or OLED screen.

With a screen you can’t cover a whole wall and the people with the trippy artwork…

@IvanDobsky yes, you can. :wink:

That may cover part of a wall, but you still ain’t covering people \ furniture \ the cat. :rofl:

I’m thinking this:

And was surprised to see cheap Chinese knock-off kit is now under £50.
