Relationship between poem and song of the poem

I have two song works (Betlehems stjärna and Gläns över sjö och strand) that are different melodies to the same poem. I would like to connect them through a new poem work. Which relationship should they have to it?

We are obviously looking for a work-work relationship. Ruling out the obvious misfits, and arrangement by the definition of the word, two relationships remain: other version and based on. A quick search reveals that both relationships have previously been used for similar cases. Which one should I choose?

I’ve always used “is based on” - it seems straightforward to me that the songs are not a new version of the poem, but a new work using that poem as a basis.
