Planned OAuth migration/Downtime for 27 July, 18:00 CET

Update: We are still finessing some details, but all services should be back online and useable!

We’re so pleased to finally have centralised OAuth, which opens many doors.

Please use this thread to report any issues (maybe give it an hour, clear your cache, etc)

The OAuth migration has been prepared and scheduled for 27 July, 18:00 CET (today).

Please expect downtime of ~1 hour across all MetaBrainz projects, if everything goes smoothly.

For more details on the migration, please read:

It worked for me a few hours ago, but not anymore.

I see a header on https://musicbrainz.org/ saying “Sorry, we could not verify your login credentials right now. Please try logging in again.”

When I press the “Log in” button, Sign in - MetaBrainz Foundation, I get a 504.

https://beta.musicbrainz.org/ and https://listenbrainz.org/ are similar.

edit: all seems well now.

The team is working on this (there were some issues with webhooks, MB login worked for me recently but not everything is perfect yet).

I had an issue with manual lookup from Picard and the sign-in redirects losing the DiscID last night (22:00 UTC-4). I’ll try again this evening to see if a was an anomaly or the new system.

Hello everyone, I was told in the Discord server to post my issue to this thread, so here it is. I have this bug happening in my account where I have my email verified in both MetaBrainz and MusicBrainz but it is still telling me that “Your MetaBrainz account does not have a verified email address” in ListenBrainz and that’s causing me to be unable to connect my Spotify to it. I’ve tried using a different email address and verifying that one, but it still didn’t fix the issue. Then tried switching back to the original email address and re-verifying it, but that didn’t work either. Finally, I have even tried fully deleting my ListenBrainz account and then creating it again (my User Token got changed to a new one when I re-created it so I am certain my ListenBrainz account was indeed fully deleted before re-creation), but this didn’t work either. Since I cannot think of anything else to try, I am still stuck without being able to connect my Spotify, my Last.fm, or anything else in the Connect Services page in ListenBrainz, so I would very much appreciate any help with this matter, thanks! : )

It seems some issues with connections between sites remain that mean verifications are not always working at the moment (or work only after some time). Please do not delete your accounts and the like, just wait and we’ll try to make it all more stable and proper

Yesterday I had issues logging in, nothing helped it was “502 Bad Gateway” all the way, couldn’t even login here to report about it (posted a message to Mastodon tho).
It continued today on Brave. Now I decided to test it on Firefox and when that worked normally, I once again cleared cookies/data for Metabrainz/Musicbrainz (don’t know which one made the difference) and OAUTH started working on Brave as well.

Verifications are hopefully fixed now.

I did have 502 issues on Monday which required me to remove my metabrainz.org cookies, so in case someone else hits that, yes, that might help.

Account: v0
MetaBrainz profile shows email as Verified.
ListenBrainz still reports the account email as unverified after logging out and completing a fresh login.
/1/validate-token returns {"valid":true,"user_name":"v0"}.
/1/submit-listens returns HTTP 401 stating that the MetaBrainz email is unverified.
Observed 31 July 2026.
