Does anyone uncheck this option:
“Allow paths longer than 259 characters” ?
Because if not, maybe it’s worth sewing it into Picard permanently without the possibility of changing it.
Maybe there will be less code, and less experienced users will do less damage when they start clicking all the checkboxes. 
The option’s default value depends on whether full support for long paths is enabled in the Windows registry. If it isn’t it’s better for most users to keep this off. It’s awkward if you can’t e.g. rename a file in Explorer after saving with Picard 
And as long as support for longer paths is still not the default on Windows and many applications can’t deal with it there are good reasons to save files with short paths.
