Back in the day, cddb and freedb had downloadable data dumps, but they also made incremental datadumps available, so you could just update those, and only get the full dump every now and then to be sure everything was good. Do you have anything like that?
If you install the MB server according to this installation instructions, you can use the “replication packets”. Each package contains the changes of the last hour and is incremental.
