[mailed in] [Hemang Mishra] This week was a bit busy with exams starting. Still, I managed to finish the work on the login-related GDPR and consent screen: [#627]

Also reviewed some mockups from our new contributors for shimmer effect on Feed and Profile screens.

A very busy week again, but bot-detector is now fully stable and deployed
I had to make changes to openresty & haproxy configs, to fix some long standing issues with ansible to be able to support the changes I wanted to make
Still under close supervision, because well, new stuff, new problems, but overall I’m pretty confident it will do the job
For “normal” users it shouldn’t cause much issues, but some abusers may discover new limits
Also the bot that was hitting our servers hard is now blocked for a longer time (since it uses IPs that sometimes only comes back every 2 days)
apart that, nothing, I had to focus. Now starting to work on Picard plugins V3 roadmap because the thing is stale

Last week I’ve prototyped a small web page which displays my MB collection and allows me to submit listens for whole mediums/sides at once with one click.
(not yet ready for publication)
Over the weekend I reviewed and tested a new Harmony provider for mora.jp by serial_ata, looks almost ready.
And I’ve finally pushed my weeks old SoundCloud provider changes and comments to Lioncat6 PR.
Also a bit of issue housekeeping, there might be a bunch of new providers in the next release(s).

I’ve mostly been working on the label form conversion
Plus I spent a bunch of time updating dependencies for MBS
Probably more label conversion this week

• continued work on INST-1162
• finally added those releases!
• ended up tagging A LOT of releases!
• almost broke the 8TB eHD (oops) (it’s kinda messed, still so)
• ordered a 2 tb usb stick (wow)
• also bought a printer (alas more $$)

This week I’ll:

• continue work on instruments
• pack
• relax a bit, eat good food
• fret because Soon™ I’ll be travelling (my most ambitious endeavour yet!)
• wait for stuff I ordered to arrive so I can tag more releases

Updated the DB on test.BB
Reviewed PRs, and fixed a bunch of self-contained bugs
On LB I continued work and reviews of listens importers
And reviewed other PRs
Did some more testing of my big BrainzPlayer PR
(now merged)
Did some community outreach and ticket triage
That’s most big tickets

last week I mostly continued working on the metabrainz → musicbrainz webhooks for account creation/deletion, and on session management
and did a small amount of code review

updated authentik (SSO system for staff) to incorporate a security patch
also strategized with zas a bit about system management and upgrades
(TL;DR we’ve got a bunch to think about and do for both, whatever we do will be a substantial amount of work internally, woohoo! )

Finishing off bits of work & doing assignments mainly.
Also some background writing
I also did a bit of editing, discovered some streaming services have 6 different copies of each new release in 2025, which was fun lol
Also wondering if it’s possible to get explicit/clean fields on tracks & releases (both for features/UI and for more consistent disambiguation), although that might be a bit of a project?

and looked up the lates prs and issue i’ll test mostly next week after my endsem and will fix some known issue!

[ansh] Last week, I worked on the changes suggested by aerozol and the community for the musicbrainz homepage, and spent time fixing the tests.
I also picked up couple of tickets on LB, and reviewed some PRs.

[mayhem] last week was another rough week for me; since I am restoring my digestion right now, my immune system is pretty shit, so I caught another cold, so things where slow.
accounting cleanup (our bank can’t actually route payments correctly) so I am ditching them, which is a lot of work telling all of our supporters our new bank details. super not fun,
some PR review, emails, caa cache work, lots of naps and hopefully back to the mapper soon.

last week, i did some work on MeB admin dashboard and fixed some misc bugs in LB to trim down the number of errors recorded in sentry.

@JadedBlueEyes I believe that’s likely waiting on recording attributes, you might wanna take a look at STYLE-891 and/or MBS-8393 if you haven’t already. I think that’s depending on the react conversion @reosarevok has been working on (not sure the exact details tho)
