Old solr7 cluster
Discussion around when to announce removing Solr 7, zas has already downscaled the old cluster, it is generally agreed to attempt to have another meeting very soon and make a concerted effort, some other discussion.
@Zas I really don’t know how MB could help in the current situation, unfortunately. AcoustID is not in any danger and I will keep maintaining it for as long as there are users, but my responses are not fast, because it’s not the highest priority. Giving someone access to production servers requires a level of trust. I’m not saying I see any bad intentions or anything, but it’s still a trust issue. Even with MB early on, the only people with access to production were rob and djce. That only changed after rob actually hired people. If MB wants to ensure that AcoustID lives even if I’m gone, then that would involve getting involved with the AcoustID development, having a know how how to run it, what are the components and so on. I’m open to any suggestions, but I don’t see many options right now.
And I think there was a misunderstanding of my original message. I wasn’t really asking for help. I was just noting that nobody ever was interested in working on the AcoustID infrastructure. And I’m not in a position to hire people to work on it, to reduce the bus factor. It was really just a response that I somehow don’t want to acknowledge that the project depending on a single person is not great. It’s not, but without any external interest in the project, it’s not really by choice.
So there is no need for a specific help. If someone is actually interested in working on AcoustID, that would build trust and could increase the bus factor. Until that happens, I’ll keep making sure AcoustID is running, but will work on issues based on my priorities.
