[mailed in] I had something big on earlier this month… hmm what was it… nope, can’t remember.
Anyway, since the last meeting I:
Made some tiny PRs - a small step for devs, a giant leap for aerozol-kind - to add new players to the ListenBrainz-enabled apps list, which is looking nice and healthy now
Did some work on a nice MeB OBS/streaming overlay that would probably not work and we would end up having to use zoom instead (huh, that’s a weird thing to imagine)
Spent a ton of time on a plane (hmm, why was I on a plane??) sanitizing and trying to make sense of 2017 survey data
Some interesting mockups and discussion on [MBS-13292: Display partial translations in language drop down] + [MBS-11748: Releases are not ordered by date when showing all releases groups] (to be continued)
Spent a whole weekend writing notes and drafting an enormous blog post on something big that happened early this month… strange… nope still not ringing any bells
The person with the best memory can go next
Addendum re. blog post draft, I would like to publish it later this week. If you’ve been assigned a presentation to summarise in the doc please don’t let it wait.
You can see all the current summaries (e.g. the blog post text) here, let me know if there’s any issues - the blog has already been drafted so if you edit the word doc changes won’t be carried over if you don’t let me know

[MonkeyPython] Came home alright. slept for a week (sorry for not being able to pay attention to the rest of whatever happened earlier the month :s)
Generally dealing with IRL things
Currently cleaning up the alternate machine with more modern browser so I can start working on BookBrainz editing and stuff (it’s going a little slow tho) until (hopefully) new assisted device can be implemented
Closed a ticket as won’t fix (too novelty), now working on adding some shawm stragglers (it was fantastically cool to actually get to see shawm irl too! (insert image from the museum!))

[monkey] The BB mini-summit and the MeB summit went really well, I thought !
MonkeyPython agree
After the summit, i continued hacking on the LB artist page, the prototype is already looking pretty swell
I also worked on improving our generated stats art by adding link and album/ artist names on hover
Sometimes I do love SVG.
Sometimes I don’t.
I also quickly put together a feature to add any listen to a playlist in LB, from the listen context menu
And worked on some improvements around playlists generally
Worked on some repo upkeep in BookBrainz and reviewed some PRs
And apparently two whole hours of (no description)

last week after the summit my brother came to visit bcn, and I was playing tour guide for him, which was a lot of fun. since I was vacationing I have no real update to give except for fixing some issues with the incremental JSON dumps

Last week I was fighting weblate glossaries, dealing with a bunch of user reports (including some from the end days of the summit)
Working on a small ticket or two
And mentoring Pratha-Fish (including a short video meeting with uni staff)

[quote = “snaekboi”]
[Pratha-Fish] Worked my ass off, got some output, and now we’re further ahead in the project with higher hopes to get it finished in time :))
Worked on some wikdiata queries, optimized them with reosarevok, wrote some python scripts to automate everything
Moved the bot repository to GitHub - metabrainz/MusicBrainz-AreaBot: A bot to automate the process of adding new areas to MusicBrainz · GitHub :))
Thanks to bitmap, was able to use some sick database dumps (please teach me out to generate it senpai)
attended the summit, asked a ton of questions, learned a lot about the current state of the org
had a meeting with reosarevok together with my university prof who asked reo some silly questions

last week, i was mostly busy traveling and attending the GSoC Mentor Summit with mayhem.
it was an awesome experience, with tons of fun and new learnings. introduced ListenBrainz and MusicBrainz to many people from other open source communities.
mayhem and i also attended the Internet Archive’s open houses and had some discussions about BookBrainz and OpenLibrary working together.
and also lots of chocolate!
but the GSoC program for next year wasn’t announced in the closing session.
so it is still not sure if there will be a GSoC next year.
i’ll be spending another week in California for tourist-y stuff so will be mostly away this week.

I am still on vacation. Enjoying a lot and surviving somehow
Got another week to go
Haven’t been away from home this long ever.
But great stuff!

I’ve finally found the bug which was causing the BB import queue (BBIQ) consumer to fail : D
Of course it was hiding close to the Knex.js SQL builder code and not where I had been adding all of these type definitions previously…
Now the first few test authors from OpenLibrary were successfully imported into (a separate section of) the DB and the new errors which popped up about missing languages in the DB look much more reasonable.
Thanks to this progress, I was able to finalize my current pending PRs in the three different BB repos : P
Let’s see how much of my original importer project proposal I still manage to realize during the next few weeks…
I also looked through the summit photos and had a few discussions about my Harmony seeder as well.

[ansh] I worked on making the fresh release page in LB more mobile accessible. And fixed a small bug in CB. Other than that, I was mostly busy with my college exams.

[arsh] Really sorry as I haven’t had much time outside of my studies
To work on anything else
