I’m still up to my neck in this other design project, which is dragging out…
Nonetheless I had an interesting week with the MeB bits I got done.
You’ll notice it’s been mainly comms stuff. Design takes longer and more headspace, while I can do comms stuff on the side when I have a minute.
I finally made bluesky and mastodon MeB accounts [blog post]
Sat in on a long-running and quite pro NZ Wikipedian meetup, to see what learnings could perhaps be brought into the MeB community. You can read my notes here [Google doc]
Some other work on socials. Posted a video game day playlist. And 10k Picard commits! (go outsidecontext!)
Helping prep and upload interview between Pratha-Fish and mayhem for YouTube
Leo_Verto sent me MB community survey results from almost exactly 6 years ago! Super interesting stuff. I want to dig through and post the results at some point in the future (but not hurrying). Some of the data/question formatting will be hard to graph/present clearly, so it won’t be as easy as I hoped. [ORG-5: MusicBrainz User Survey]

[Pratha-Fish] - Last week we got PR #4 on the musicbrainz-bot finally merged thanks to bitmap and reosarevok🥳
- also had a smol discussion with reo regarding the structure of the bot, and the data we’d be working on, and possible optimization and deployment strategies.
- Today, the interview I did with mayhem for my university has also been published thanks to aerozol!

last week I worked on checking through JIRA and fixing small bugs like missing cover arts in a couple of places. also did some PR reviews. that’s it for me

last week I mostly did code review for MBS & musicbrainz-bot and finished a fix for MBS-8952: Pasting some recording URL rename recordings
though I am still working on the selenium test for it

I completed my onboarding. Thank you zas, lucifer and mayhem for helping me setup things.
I has a great meeting with monkey.
And reviewed ShivamAwasthi ’s GSoC PR

[monkey] Last week I continued reviewing GSoC projects. ShivamAwasthi project is now officially finished and merged and ready for beta : )
Still some improvements can be added on, but isn’t that always true?
I also worked on improving the CSS for the new artist similarity explorer for ListenBrainz
I also continued wrestling with the LB test suite and removing our snapshot tests (and replacing them with more useful tests)
Finally, I worked a bit on summit t-shirt logistics, on updating the BB projects to Node 18, and working on improving my work setup

Last week I’ve only quickly addressed some feedback on my open PRs.
Nothing else to report unfortunately, I am busy preparing slides for a talk which I’m giving on Thursday.
I was even working through the whole weekend which is my usual GSoC time reserve : /
But GSoC will definitely get back my attention on Thursday.

[mayhem] last week was summit prep, playing travel agent for lucifer and I (we’re going to the GSoC Mentor summit, the weekend after our summit)
also coordination discussions with various people, hiring ansh and other MeB tasks.
on the dev front I started wrapping up my tag changes and getting tag similarity ready for production.
my longer term plan is to get lb radio support for local collections and I have a plan for how to accomplish that.

Last week I spent quite a bit of time dealing with reports (both more than usual and some less trivial than usual)
Also worked on a few small tickets, including a report for wrongly used “show notes” relationships (which might be 80% of them, sigh)
And updated a bunch of PRs following reviews by bitmap (thanks bitmap)

This weekend, I finally made the required changes to the identifierTypeEditor PR. It has been merged now.
There are some finishing touches left, which I’ll be working on in the coming weeks
Other than that, I’m looking forward to experiencing Mumbai’s Ganesh Chaturthi in its full glory, starting tomorrow.

nothing much to report again, however I did make some minor data layout and ZFS changes on jimmy. I think we’re finally good to go into production now!

last week, we released Picard 2.9.2 [blog post]
I mainly worked on Picard because we’ll have to release 2.10rc1 very soon as it will include some important fixes we couldn’t add to 2.9.x since they may have side effects
BTW, I implemented a new debug feature based on Python 3.8+ addaudithook() people working on Python may want to have a look at this
apart that, usual upgrades (discourse was upgraded), user support, supervision, minor fixes.
