Reviews

[mailed in] Nothing much to report. Drafted LLM/AI guidelines for CB, put in a pull request to change to the stupid new ‘X’ favicon.
Oh, quite cool, the unofficial Discord organized a group editing session on chat/video on Wednesday, which five or six editors popped into, which was fun. Organized by @UltimateRiff. If it carries on successfully we could look into similar social events, or try open that one to a wider/non-discord audience.

[mailed in] This week, I worked on and reviewed Picard PRs, mainly to address PICARD-2697 [Picard doesn’t restore all defaults] and PICARD-1815 [Notification on plugin updates available] (along rdswift).
I also fixed an issue with telegraf and buddy (office/backup server), caused by an upgrade together with the lack of proper configuration on Ansible side.
Apart from that, I unblocked few users, and did usual supervision, upgrades, minor fixes.

Last week I spent a lot of time looking at open style tickets
And dealt with a fair amount, many of which required URL handling PRs, so there’s a bunch of new ones
Other than that, I put a new production release out today
And did a bit of code review, including a quick look through Pratha-Fish’s PRs

(Pratha-Fish) Just like last week, I am outside again today
Something exploded near my flat, and the lights gone since morning. So here I am sitting in a McDonald’s just to get some electricity :skull:
This week I worked on 3 diffeeent PRs for the MBBOT!
Had an exam this Sunday once again, had to take a day off for studies
Also wrote some documentation for the MBBOT!
Restructured the MusicBrainz-AreaBot a bit, and tried some queries to fetch areas with the help of ChatGPT
Also coming up with a more solid timeline for the project now :moai:
Also I’d like to take the stage to apologize for all the delays in my work
I haven’t been able to manage my time well, and it’s my fault. I am trying my best and any advice would be appreciated. But rest assured this project is my responsibility and I will see it to completion
(monkey) Last week I helped mayhem with a new interface for LB Radio
This included a big refactor of how me manage user feedback, which I completed today
I reviewed and discussed GSoC projects
Had some general discussions with mayhem as well about BrainzPlayer and ListenBrainz
And reviewed some PRs on LB and BB side

Nothing new from me this week, I’m still adding type definitions to the BB ORM and trying to achieve consistency.
Since BB originally wasn’t a TS project, most new types have been defined as needed and close to where they were needed in the past…
Related to that, I had two discussions with monkey how we want to name types and how to best handle derived types with additional or optional properties.
I’ve already gotten rid of a few “almost redundant” types which were leading to type incompatibility errors now that more code has been adapted to TS, but there’s still some clean-up work ahead.

beginning of last week I helped with the docker container restarts
I finished & deployed the ssh key changes to the postgresql containers (so keys will be stored in docker-server-configs and copied into the containers)
and I fixed some issues with the existing add_ssh_*_key functions that was duplicating keys in the authorized_keys files every time we ran start_services.sh /facepalm
later I did some musicbrainz-bot code review and finished writing migration steps for making jimmy the new primary
and worked on fixing [pull 2982: Upgrade Flow to 0.214.0] and adding two more Flow upgrades (which caused some additional errors that needed to be fixed)
last week was mostly a few PR reviews and gsoc discussions. other than that working on refactoring the spark datasets queries and metadata cache updaters.

(mayhem) I spent most of the week on the LB radio UI: ListenBrainz
everything but the export to JSPF feature works now.
loads of help from monkey, thanks for that.
rather quiet on other fronts, which was nice to just put my head down and code.
(arsh) Last week I did not do much work as I was having health issues due to a bad tooth
Mostly fixed my old work and submitted a new commit for the pr related to a fix
Did not make a lot of progress on adding any new functionalities to the project
Hopefully I can catch up this week and finish on time

(jasje) last week was very noice
feed is all stitched up and ready
week or two more of work left i suspect if i keep up the pace
identified an error from the server side
which made me bang my head for 3 days before I realised

I was on a vacation to Pondicherry in India last week. Had an off finally after a long time
Hung out with a group of germans there, haha!
