Hello everyone !
I’m AFK this week visiting family. I’ll be back next week.
Last week I mainly worked on finally finishing the Author Credits for BookBrainz. I think it’s now ready for beta! It was a good group effort.
I also had some discussions with @Shubh for his GSoC project, and reviewed some of his PRs from before the GSOC period.
Finally did a bit of debugging and planning for the LB BrainzPlayer.

I spent some time setting up a VM test environment to help test my WIP Ansible role for installing and managing CrowdSec. The aim is to provide support for a multi-server configuration, so that when one MeB server detects an abusive IP (e.g. for SSH brute force attacks) it is banned on all servers.
The extra co-ordination required to delegate registration of new hosts adds a fair amount of complexity to the role, however this approach is likely to be useful in future such as for configuring and managing Borg backups.

last week i worked on spark side for chinmay’s recent releases project.
also debugged some issues with the mbid mapping writer issues and answered related queries on forums.
worked with @alastairp on updating CB and LB to Flask 2.
discussed with @rob on adding a new data store for short lived data (instead of storing it in PG)
and finally did some work on adding mbids to now playing tracks on the frontend.

I merged and released some of @anshgoyal31’s CB patches, in addition to the flask2 upgrade that @lucifer mentioned
I met with @mr_monkey and @anshgoyal31 to help plan @anshgoyal31’s project, and I did the same today with @Pratha-fish
I put some plans in motion with @zas to start capturing a bit more http access logs for CB so that we can see who is accessing it and what pages (likely that most of it is the MB webserver)
I’ve been working on the AB shutdown - including stopping accepting submissions, and moving it to flobot, a new server auction server to free up rack space where frank is currently
tonight I’ll do a trial copy of the database from one machine to the other. moving AB will allow us to keep the API running until the end of this year

last week we released Picard 2.8.1
I also upgraded openresty on our gateways to latest version
I gave a lot of feedback to WIP patch for PICARD-2471 (GSoC @skelly37)
plus usual upgrades, supervision, edits, user support.

Last week I finally merged MeB guidelines for RabbitMQ usage and worked on following these.
I reviewed some MBS PRs and @lucifer’s patches to ugprade SQLAlchemy version in SIR.
Added a database-only mirror setup to the MusicBrainz Docker Compose project.
Got some feedback about it that helped with addressing issues.

I was mostly working on improving existing PRs, and finishing something decentish for MBS-1658 with @bitmap’s help
So maybe we can get at least one old schema change ticket out of the way
Other than that, just enjoying the summer, really

last week i mostly worked on my gsoc project specifically its frontend part, implemented basic unified form with entity creation modal to generate entities on the fly apart from that also fixed some issues in the old PRs

So this is my first time on the Monday meeting.
Last week I worked on fetching Edition Group from BookBrainz Database.
I also worked on feature to allow users to review edition groups on CB.
I had some discussion with @alastairp related to my project.
One update, Next week I have my end semester exams, so I won’t be available.

last week I worked more on improving the artwork-indexer tests in preparation for release (but didn’t push these changes yet, still amending)
spent time on code review, helped fixed some issues in MBS-11599: Allow adding URL relationships to genre pages by reosarevok · Pull Request #2497 · metabrainz/musicbrainz-server · GitHub and helped a bit with the collection comments PR
also worked on implementing the “Change credits for other […] relationships on the page” in the react relationship editor branch and fixing issues related to that

Hi everyone, this is my first time on a monday meet too
Kicked off duscussions with @alastairp to get started with the project and to get on speed with my proposed timeline
started converting omy test Notebooks into mini python modules
removed redundant code
did some optimizations along the way
learned the importance of planning out
Got an indea of my development speed. Currently planning rest of my week for optimal outputs

So now I’m writing tests
I have a few things to think over but all the issues are named as TODOs and the project goes smoothly for now

So last week I got my hands dirty with brainz player integration, read documentations and sample codes for the media player libraries.
Worked on the music service + notification required for the playback.
Updated the cb integration pr as well

well, iirc our Jira license runs out at the end of the year and we will no longer get any more updates.
so, we need to start thinking about what we’re going to migrate to.
Jira online? eeek, with atlassian’s outage that isn’t good. And we’d likely lose our single sign on functionality.
If not jira, what else?
[@yvanzo notes that we should be able to renew the license until February 2024.]
still, the question stands. what are we migrating to. so in the interest of time I would like us to start thinking about it now. given that migrating away could be a major time sink for us.
so, I have nothing more concrete to say right now.
let us all think about this, knowing that there is a deadline off in the distance.
