This week, I’ve been tussling with productivity issues for the past few weeks
Kinda like writer’s block
But it’s been getting better
I opened a PR for restreaming data into BQ
And a PR for adding comments to CB
Took much longer than normal, but okay now.

lots of accounting, invoices and chasing people to give us money. the really evil day to day stuff, sadly.
I also did an adult thing…
I showed up to the bank with my accountant in tow.
the bank people couldn’t really tell me we could’t do something with an expert in a suit there.
I need to hire more people in suits to do dirty work.
ewww.
but maybe, just maybe we can rescue our bank account soon.
fingers crossed for easier commerce.
also I submitted tax info for 2017 to our accountants.
not a lot of technical work, some PR reviews here and there. I hope that improves this week.
finally, some GSoC work!
congrats to everyone who was accepted! it took a little more effort and coordination to get a good team properly aligned, but I am happy with what we’ve got going on
I’m looking forward to this year - all of the projects have some significance for us, which is great.

Trying to close more now, whether by adding stuff or by claiming they’re dumb
(politely)
Nah, really, there’s just so much stuff so I need to look into a ton of stuff, but I’m trying to reduce the list slowly
Other than that, I fixed some stuff bitmap found in my genres PR

Wasn’t able to get much done this week, but just finished merging the solr 7 port. Reviewed picard prs. Also worked with chhavi_ on choosing our component library. I think bitmap and chhavi_ will have more on that later.

I tried doing another round of mockups. But I think we will need some discussions on key points, especially with Rob. Couldn’t manage that last week due to busy college schedule. We will hopefully do them this week.
Apart from that, I am done making an inventory of components we will use for the first round of the design system (basically my GsoC)
Did a lot of research on libraries. More on that after meeting

I mostly worked on converting “collapsible” entity components to react (annotations, critiquebrainz reviews, associated show more/less controls). should have a pr up today
fixed some conflicts/test failures in my other prs
and looked into some ui component libraries compiled by chhavi_

Last week, I fixed some bugs in beta MBS and made a second beta release, which now seems to be ready for production.
Made a bunch of PR reviews, addressed a few small issues.
Some DB load issues seem to be due to MB WS again.
I enabled Markdown support in MBS and OTHER tickets, for test purpose (related to OTHER-77).

Last week I worked on adding more functionalities to some scripts for my already opened PR’s.
And did some formalizing on how would I start working on my GSoC project.

This week was tiresome, so had little time to spare. I however did run some tests on search migration to Postgres.

My semester recently started so I’ve been pretty busy running around campus to find the right rooms and haven’t gotten any MeB work done since my last review, apart from helping with ruaok’s plan for GDPR compliance.
I’d just like to thank everyone for accepting my (admitedly pretty rushed) GSoC application for SpamBrainz and to congratulate all the other students! I’m really looking forward to building something actually useful with deep learning!
Oh yeah and I bought a DJ controller a couple days ago so if anyone knows a good source for electro house/pop remixes I’d appreciate suggestions!

This week I’ve been busy with a few assignments and tests. I’m working on creating scripts to fetch artist mbids using recording mbids. Once I’ve had some discussion on BU-11 I’ll write tests for the script I’ve written. And create a PR for that. Once again congratulations to all GSoCers 2k18!

So, https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/STYLE-525 has been there forever
And we should deal with it, hence https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/MBS-9686
I wanted to check with others whether they think we should actually import all those covers that still use the “cover art at” relationship into the CAA or drop them
I mean, technically, there’s no difference - we already claim that is the cover art for the release, so we would just change how we store that claim
But we might not trust these cover art rels to be good enough, in which case I’m happy to just recommend dropping them
A call for action might work if we have a decent report of where these are used (is there a way to see that currently other than just a number in statistics? we used to have a report in the old rika machine, but)
Although I suspect our users mostly have better stuff to do with their time, tbh

After some discussion, it was decided that @bitmap will make a report of releases that are still using the “has cover art at” Release-URL relationship, then a blog is made, and the relationship will be dropped in «early June or July or something».

Summit goodies

So I just wanted to start the conversation about summit t-shirts/any other goodies we plan to do. This will give me/any other community member time to have the artwork ready and then we can order.
Also, if we want to stick with t-shirts or maybe have something else say mugs, or bags. Redbubble has a ton of stuff we can choose from.

The conversation was a bit unfocused, with @chhavi asking some questions about how it’s been done previously and @Rob and others replying, a bit of back and forth about what items might be nice/cool, etc.

It was decided that @chhavi would prepare a poll for a future meeting to make the selection a bit more manageable.
