Mainly worked on Release editor Selenium tests by mwiencek · Pull Request #644 · metabrainz/musicbrainz-server · GitHub which improves our Selenium setup a lot and adds/converts a lot of release editor tests to Selenium. Other than that, tested and reviewed other MBS PRs. Also ran into some errors deriving the remaining 1200px CAA thumbnails and got a bit of help from the IA folks on that.

Lasst week, I mainly worked on releasing a bunch of React rewrites to beta.
We had a meeting with loujine, reosarevok and the DOREMUS team.

Otherwise, I debugged beta server and prod web service.

Been slowly but steadily getting back into full gear this week. Spent the week mostly trying to get open PRs in various projects to better condition. Started with the case sensitive messybrainz PR. Worked on the metabrainz.org datasets page. Then, worked on some new features like restreaming the LB data into BQ with a better structure and comments on CB reviews. Neither of those complete yet, hopefully I’ll have something complete to show next week.

nothing much done, mainly usual supervision, few edtis, and pr reviews, but that’s it, i’m in half sleep mode in BCN.
we went to see Roger Waters in concert on saturday… amazing good show

I played more with the dockerization of the the spark cluster, including adding support for automatically creating new nodes at hetzner and deploying a cluster
fun stuff, but other boring things like banks, invoices, supporters, accountants, taxes and other shit keep getting in the way.
oh, yeah. super helpful to have @zas here.
at points he did actually contribute more than rubber ducking.
like picking a good restaurant.
we also met up with @alastairp today and talked messybrainz and GDPR, which was nice and very timely/helpful.
this week I have loads of boring shit to do – not sure how much spark hacking there will be.

This week I worked a little bit more on relationships
You can now edit existing relationships in the editor (but not yet submit them to the server)
I also did some maintenance stuff on our building scripts
And… It looks like elasticsearch is no longer consuming ever-increasing amounts of memory in an attempt to become sentient
So that’s good news. Also means we have a bit more time to replace it

So, anyone who wants to check that and make sure I’m not stupid (or I am) please do
It’s a very basic, “hardcoded list in entities.json” approach
But it should work for now until we can get them into a proper DB table

This week I worked on developing ideas for and writing port to postgres for search
As ES had been troubling the BB-site
My work migrations and adding of views to aid the search is complete
Little work remains to be done to complete the search process on the site side
Apart from that, seeing ES stabilise is good.

so yvanzo reosarevok and I met people working with french radio, national library and so on
we talked about data alignment (they started something already)
and importing some of their shcema about genres or instruments
I prepared a summary (in french) that I have to send them
Framapad hebdomadaire
and we are going to start discussing about aligning more aritsts first
that’s the short versionfor the moment

we are all set for gsoc – I think the announcements will go out soon, IIRC
it seemed like we didn’t get as many good proposals this year, but in the end it looks like a good bunch.
that was it. I should’ve given this update during the meeting, but forgot.
I’m looking forward to the announcements going out.
I feel that GSoC has been so good to us – it felt really good to “visit my team in india” while not being one of those outsourcing pricks.
