I had a busy week with uni stuff, so I mostly did support only.
I did help sam and chhavi with their respective tasks, and spent quite a bit helping newbies on IRC
I also gaslit Leftmost with the French guideline

same story as last week, lots of SOLR PRs
bitmap: helped me with code reviews and reosarevok helped me with db queries
we are now at index and output parity with the current search
well, as soon as these 2 PRs are merged Pull requests · metabrainz/sir · GitHub
anyways, I found that the current search server is weirdly coded, more on that later

well, mostly trips… usual supervision of servers, blacklisting/unblacklisting, few PRs reviews
Good news, i met a guy at GSoC, who knows people at QNAP, contact is made with QNAP team
We’ll see where it goes
I was at Rob’s talk on friday, in Paris, and i have something important to report : many people came to say “Thanks” for MusicBrainz !
So, keep up the good job guys !
I started to dig Kubernetes
I’ll tell more on this when i’ll know enough
apart that, mostly planes/trains/metros/bus/hotels…

worked a lot on LB data dumps this week
I have pull requests up for dumping listens and the Postgres DB right now
also worked on a page for showing the artists a person has listened to the most in a bar graph (although this is much of a WIP)
I also spent some time reading AB code to understand our code better in general, opened a PR there (small doc change)
And reviewed ferbncode’s PR for AB-117, I intend to work on some AB stuff this week too.

got back on Saturday from SoC and visiting friends
missed my return flight on Friday so had to rebook
really successful SoC summit - I ran a session about collaboration between orgs for Soc
with a kind-of-focus on musicbrainz
had an interesting discussion with mixxxdj and dbpedia, some possible collaborations there
I met with Felipe, who is the BigQuery developer advocate - he gave a talk
we grabbed an office and did some hacking / he gave me some suggestions on how to better our BQ infrastructure, I’ll take a look at that
some other good talks about making PRs and first point of contact for new contributors nicer
maybe we can take a look at this in the future - mostly around automating all parts of the PR process that can be, so that the human interaction is more useful
amazing to see more AB reviews coming in, going to try really hard to look at some of them this week

well, I did a bit of sir and mbs code review
then worked on finishing this ticket to generate a test/sample data dump
it uses a few hard coded artists and then crawls the db to get related info… but it crawls too much info right now I just need to fix that
also did other boring stuff like fixing our selenium tests, which a chrome update broke

I did some work on getting DuckDuckGo to index us.
Which in turn meant getting Yahoo! to index us.
(us = MusicBrainz)
Which in turn meant getting Bing to index us.
So we (= I) now have a Bing webmaster account.
zas didn’t want to get MS infected, but if bitmap or yvanzo or someone has/wants to make an MS account, I can give them access.
(So it’s not just me with access to it.)
Send me mails to freso@meb if you want access and I’ll get to it.
I also did some Discourse version updating.
And I approached luks about AcoustID questions on our forums (more about that later).
And spent time on IRC and forums and with girlfriend.

I tried my hand at editing, added a few events, reosarevok helped.
Got a mockup for “edit event page”.
It’s up here, Add an Event_Comments&Feedback - Google Docs. Ready for some feedback
Now starting with “Release”

Almost the same week as before: fixed few other small issues, investigated recently reported bugs and finishing admin UI to confirm & hide spam and allow the future SpamBrainz to analyze & retrieve it.
There has been no MB server release since the Summit 17. Be reassured that the usual 2 weeks release cycle is going to start again, next beta will be released in the following hours.

As said before, I’ve reached out to luks: Redirecting to Google Groups
And he said «This mailing list is not a good place for discussions, so I’d be happy to use the MB Discourse as the “official” forum.»
So if no one has any objections, I would like to make an “AcoustID” category on the forums in addition to our current acoustid tag.
(Since we get a fair amount of AcoustID questions on the forums, and having its own category would make it easier for people to note that it’s a separate project to *Brainz and we could make a category description that notes that it’s not a Brainz project etc.)

Google Code-in/2017/Task suggestions - MusicBrainz Wiki still has a lot of room for more task suggestions.
And tomorrow is the last day for org. applications, which means they may start looking at task suggestion pages tomorrow.
So we should really get as many new tasks on the page as possible in the next 24 hours.
Also, any one who thinks about being a mentor that are not already listed at Google Code-in/2017 - MusicBrainz Wiki please let me know!
And if anyone’s listed at Google Code-in/2017 - MusicBrainz Wiki and haven’t been added to the 2017 mentor hangout, also let me know!

There was some additional Q&A about tasks, e.g., which are appropriate and such.
