Ok, so I think this is about Picard loading compilations instead of albums. Most important thing here is to always cluster the unmatched files, than use lookup on the clusters. Don’t use scan unless lookup does not give you results. The advise from Twitter is adjusting preferred release types is also valid, but cluster → release is the most important thing. If everything fails search the release manually.

Welcome!
Some quick replies:
Picard itself only pulls tags from the MusicBrainz database.
If you are using ‘scan’ then Picard will ignoring your existing tags, and scan the actual music file, and try match it to the AcoustID database. The same song/AcoustID can be on multiple albums, which is why this method will throw up a lot of compilations etc. Personally I only use scan as a last resort, but then again some people use it a lot.
If you have good tags already, then you probably want to use…
Clustering only clusters the files locally. The next step is to select a clustered release and click on “lookup in the browser”. Find the correct release in the list of search results and click on the green tagger button. This will load the release in Picard and you can drag the cluster from the left panel to the release in the right panel.
Alternatively, you can let the scan do the work, which is a bit more automated, but that option has the tendency to scatter your files over multiple version…
The maybe most important tip is to use Cluster before doing Lookup. This will sort the loaded files by album and lets Picard lookup an album as a whole instead if the individual tracks separately.
Also work in batches if a couple if albums and do not load your entire collection at once.
There are a couple of beginner threads already explaining this, search the forums
Continuing the discussion from Support for displaying similar releases in Picard :
@rahulr came up with the problem on how to properly load and use arbitrary releases from musicbrainz.org in Picard. As I think this is useful for everyone I want to detail this a bit. It is also somewhat explained as part of the Picards Basics documentation.
Some basics first [1]
In Picard you have two panes showing the files and releases to tag. Things listed in the left pane are actual files that are not yet m…
